The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Department is gearing up for summer fun, which includes the opening of several options for swimming and splashing over Memorial Day weekend. From fountains and spray grounds to outdoor pools and lakes, there are numerous ways to make a splash this summer in Colorado Springs. Spray groundsDeerfield Hills Spray Ground, located in southeast Colorado Springs at the Deerfield Hills Community Center, includes more than 50 individual spray nozzles and 16 water spray features. The spray ground opens June 1 and operates 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily.The Watering Hole at Venezia Park, located in northeast Colorado Springs at John Venezia Community Park, has more than a dozen water features that are directly adjacent to an award-winning universally accessible playground, plus sports fields, courts and trails. City Council accepts donation of historic Pikeview Quarry site for future community use
Colorado Springs City Council today approved a resolution authorizing the acceptance of approximately 100 acres of land known as the Pikeview Quarry.The donation by Castle Concrete Company is part of a multi-phase effort that assembled more than 400 acres of former quarry and surrounding land in northwest Colorado Springs. The property will be added to the City’s growing portfolio of parkland and open space assets, with future use to be determined through a public engagement process.“This donation is an investment in the future of Colorado Springs,” said Mayor Yemi Mobolade. “Pikeview Quarry helped build our city, but it also left a visible scar on our landscape. What was once a place of extraction will become a place of restoration; an enduring asset for future generations to come. Colorado Springs Airport (COS) on April 7 hosted its “Flights and Bites” grand opening event, celebrating the debut of its newest concessions, Colorado Craft and Evolve by Hudson, and highlighting significant progress in the airport’s ongoing ElevateCOS modernization efforts.Held on the secure side of the concourse, the event welcomed media, partners and community members for an afternoon of local food, beer flights, beverage samples and retail experiences, offering a first look at COS’s expanding amenities.“Thank you for joining us as we celebrate the grand opening of Colorado Craft and Evolve by Hudson, two additions that significantly enhance the travel experience at COS,” said Alex Kovacs, director of aviation at Colorado Springs Airport. “With new concessions, refreshed amenities and ongoing modernization, COS is becoming a more accessible, comfortable and welcoming gateway for our community. Learn to Skate Spring 2026 registration opens at Sertich Ice Center, offering classes for all ages and skill levels
Registration is now open for Spring 2026 Learn to Skate USA classes at Sertich Ice Center, offering lessons for children and adults of all skill levels, from first-time skaters to advanced participants.  The program provides a structured, nationally recognized curriculum designed to build confidence, coordination, and foundational skating skills in a safe and supportive environment. Classes are available for a wide range of ages, including introductory programs for young children, youth hockey skating, teen instruction, and adult lessons with skaters advancing at their own pace as they master each level.  “The Learn to Skate program is designed to help participants of all ages build skills, confidence, and a lifelong connection to skating,” said Greg Sodbinow, Program Administrator at the Sertich Ice Center & Acacia Park Rink.  Registration is available online at ColoradoSprings.gov/LearnToSkate or in person at Sertich Ice Center, 1705 E.
